Pierre Gaggini

Pierre Gaggini cello

Cello by Pierre Gaggini, made in Nice in 1938 and branded and labelled by the maker internally. Gaggini won gold medals in Paris and Rome, and this cello is a testament to his skilful carving, made with finely flamed maple wood and a rich red varnish. Its creamy tone can be heard in the excerpt of Dvorak’s cello concerto played by Raphael Wallfisch, and in the Bach its deep, sonorous bass contrasts with its more brilliant upper register. This fine French cello is sold with the certificate of authenticity of Jean-Jacques Rampal. Please contact us for price and more information.
