Georges Chanot

If one were to suggest that Georges Chanot’s making skill does not deserve to be overshadowed by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume, this would be the instrument to support that view. Powerful, low Stradivari-inspired arching, elegant and refined corners and edgework, fabulous quality woods throughout, and all finished with an Italianate varnish. Dating from around 1835, this Parisian cello masterpiece is a pleasure both to play and behold. Certificate of authenticity by Jean-Jacques Rampal, Paris.
