This bow was made around 1820, using very attractive deep red-brown pernambuco wood. The pattern of wear to the back of the frog is the result of the bow frequently being stowed between strings and fingerboard when not in use; until recently it was part of a cellist’s fascinating collection of fine and rare French bows. Certificate of authenticity by Jean-Francois Raffin.
