This cello was made in Paris in the third decade of the 19th century. Bernardel ‘Pere is highly prized for the quality of his cellos, having worked in the ‘atelier of the illustrious Nicolas Lupot. The wood of this cello is quite stunning, the maple being highly figured throughout, with a magnificent one-piece back cut on the slab.
