Francois Hippolyte trained and subsequently worked with his father, Francois in Neufchateau. At first glance this fine late-nineteenth century cello could appear to be an 18th century instrument. Closer inspection of the varnish reveals the application of a detailed patina, skilfully creating the illusion of great age. Certificate of authenticity by Jean-Jacques Rampal, Paris.
