Carlo Giuseppe Testore cello for sale. This fine example was made shortly before the end of the 17th century, and it still retains much of its original red-brown varnish texture.

Its haunting upper registers can be heard in the slow movement of Elgar’s cello concerto, and the Bach movement preceding this shows its deep bass and venerable mid-range. Sold with the certificate of authenticity by Charles Beare.
