Violin Maker to the Duke of Edinburgh, Boullangier was awarded diplomas at the London Exhibitions of 1862, 72, and 88. His formative years were spent working for Vuillaume and subsequently for Gand & Bernardel in Paris. This Guarneri-inspired cello was made shortly after Boullangier arrived in London to work for Withers in 1849. It is signed and branded internally, and has a certificate of authenticity by Jean-Jacques Rampal, Paris.
