Tom Woods has
been fascinated by fine antique instruments from a very young age, and he bought
his first 18th-century cello at the age of eleven. He subsequently spent many years studying instruments under
the expert eye of Robert Lewin, violin connoisseur and long term writer for the
premier international string journal, The Strad.
Tom received his musical training as a prize-winning cello student at the Royal
Academy of Music and also took a degree in Maths at Oxford. When he isn't
working with instruments, he still very much enjoys playing in chamber-music
ensembles, and giving concerts.
He has provided beautiful-sounding instruments to players across America, Europe, and the U.K, including some of today's leading soloists and orchestral players, as well as amateur musicians and collectors.
Tom appreciates fine instruments for their visual beauty and quality of tone, and he looks forward to showing you exceptional-sounding examples from his collection.
