John Lott

Successive generations of great 19th century makers have aspired to recreate the varnish and style of  Stradivari and Guarneri. Of the historic English makers it is John Lott whose inspired reproductions of the old Italian masters are most admired for their spontaneity and audacity. Modelled after a 1692 Guarneri, this cello features a confoundingly convincing varnish patination, and the willow wood used for the back and ribs lends a dark, rugged quality to the tone.
